Joe Royle says that with 10 days of the transfer window remaining the Blues had received no more bids. So far Jamie Clapham and Richard Logan are the only players to have left the club during the window.

Royle says he wants to keep his squad as intact as possible: "At the moment we have no one in for any of our players.

"As a manager of a team who is trying to get into the top six I want to keep as many of the players who can help us as I can. But at the same time I know what has to be done if the situation arises."

Birmingham City's reported interest in Hermann Hreidarsson is likely to cool if and when they complete the signing of Matthew Upson from Arsenal. The 23-year-old is in Birmingham today discussing terms.

West Ham boss Glenn Roeder was at Portman Road on Saturday to watch the Blues defeat Preston. His side have previously been linked with striker Marcus Bent although he could be more interested in shoring up his defensive line.

The Blues reserves are in action on Wednesday night at home to Leicester (KO 7pm) with a number of Nationwide League clubs' scouts likely to be watching some of the younger players with a view to loans. Alun Armstrong, Finidi George, Martijn Reuser, Richard Naylor and perhaps Mark Venus may also be in action.

French trialist Yohan Bouzin will not be involved as the club have not received clearance to play him. The out of favour Lorient left-back is on a week's trial at Portman Road.
