Burns Back in Training But Broadhead Still Out
Tuesday, 5th Mar 2024 09:46

Manager Kieran McKenna has revealed that wideman Wes Burns is back in training and could be in the squad for this evening’s home game against his old club Bristol City, but his fellow Wales international Nathan Broadhead remains sidelined.

The duo suffered calf and thigh problems respectively during the 3-1 home victory over Birmingham City 10 days ago and missed Saturday’s 2-0 win at Plymouth Argyle.

“Nathan is not going to be available, he’s certainly not ready, but Wes trained yesterday and we’ll see how he is this morning,” McKenna told TownTV.

“We have one more session before the game and we’ll make a judgement after that.

"Everyone's in good spirits and has recovered well from the weekend, so we're looking forward to this game because we always enjoy playing under the lights at Portman Road.

“The boys are in this morning and we'll go through our final preparation, with a really light session to prepare for the game. We'll do everything we can to make sure we're ready.”

Midfielder Massimo Luongo also missed Saturday’s game due to a viral infection and again seems set to miss out this evening.

Wes back would be good but expect bench probably??
Nathan needs to get himself right, we have plenty of cover in there, Jeremy, Marcus, & even Ali can all play left 10 if necessary.
Simply mustn't rush them back. Interesting to see if Moore starts, hes hardly missed a kick since coming on at Preston, really need to protect him as far as possible, not sure if Ali might replace him early if we get ahead or maybe even start. the squad is fine whilst they are all fit, but these 11 games are gonna be the biggest opportunity we've had in decades so fingers crossed

No chance of Moore being rested we need the points we haven't really got a decent replacement a natural goal scorer and there's no easy games in this league. Al Hamadi has showed some really class but is still working on his fitness required for championship football. McKenna will pick his strongest team available unless there injured of course. The vast improvement in Hutchinson means Burns might be on the bench. Tuanzebe has tightened things up at the back and if he'd been available all season we would be top of this league.
