Scales Injured in Win

New Town signing John Scales limped off after twenty minutes of Town's victory over FC Riga. The former Spurs man acquired a sore groin when he turned on the slippery surface - there had been torrential rain all day in Riga - and was taken off as a precaution.

Similarly David Johnson was left out as he had suffered a minor groin problem in training and Jamie Clapham sat on the sidelines with a minor hamstring problem.

Also out were James Scowcroft (thigh), John McGreal (foot) and Jermaine Wright who has a knee problem.

All the Town goals last night came in the second half of a game where the Blues showed their dominance. After 68 minutes Gary Croft scored his second header in two games, although this time from left wing back rather than his more customary right and Matt Holland put away the second a couple for minutes later after good work from sub Titus Bramble.

The third came on 86 when Marcus Stewart chipped the keeper after a poor backpass. Town now return home and are next in action on Friday at Layer Road.

Last night's line-up: R Wright (Branagan 45), Wilnis, Croft, Thetis, Scales (Bramble 20), Brown, Reuser (Niven 64), Magilton, Holland, Logan, Stewart. Subs not used: Johnson, Mowbray.

Town are to rename Bluey. Reports this morning suggest that the current Bluey (or My Little Bluey as he is known to some supporters) is off and will be replaced for the new season.

Last season's Bluey was cumbersome and had trouble seeing where he was going. The naming is apparently being run as a competition by SGR's morning programme and Linighan is apparently the favourite for the mascot's new name. I'm sure your votes would be appreciated.

Many fans still bemoan the release of the Old Bluey a fearsome punk rock god of a creature and a darn sight more cool that the pretender who has been waving his hooves about at Portman Road for the last couple of seasons.

Season tickets will begin to pop through lucky people's doors on Tuesday. Envelopes are being filled over the weekend and will go out from Monday.

Amado Guevara the 24-year-old Honduran midfielder linked with Town earlier this summer is joining Newcastle for a trial this weekend. The Motagua player was touted as a Town target by Marcelo Houseman, the man who brought Mauricio Taricco and Adrian Paz to Town, in early June
