Clean Sheet for Sereni
Clean Sheet for Sereni
Monday, 12th May 2003 13:10

On loan Town keeper Matteo Sereni kept another clean sheet as Brescia beat AC Milan 1-0 at the Stadio Rigamonti. Sereni has now kept 13 clean sheets in 21 Serie A appearances this season.

The victory means Brescia are now safe from relegation with two games left to play which makes it more likely that they would be able to afford to sign Sereni permanently. Now in 9th they will hope to qualify for one of the two Intertoto places.

Town chairman David Sheepshanks told TWTD recently that the club are definitely after a fee for the 28-year-old who he said has attracted interest from a number of other Italian clubs.

Sereni's performances this season have seen his stock rise in Italy and a recent report in the Gazzetta dello Sport valued him at €8 million (£5.5 million).

While it would be unlikely that Town would get a fee quite this high it does look hopeful that the Blues will get at least something for the keeper who cost £4.7 million in the summer of 2001.
