D'Avray Wins League Tuesday, 3rd Jun 2003 01:02 Former Town star Mich D'Avray led his Perth Glory side to an Australian National Soccer League (NSL) title on Sunday. D'Avray's side beat the Olympic Sharks 2-0 in a grand final at the Subiaco Oval in Perth in front of a 38,111 crowd. The Glory had acquired a bit of a reputation as 'chokers' in recent years, an image they hope to have rid themselves of with this season's success. They had lost two of the last three NSL grand finals on home territory. D'Avray became head coach at the Glory in 2001 after being promoted from assistant coach, a position he had held for three years. Previously he had worked in South Africa with the Moroka Swallows, Cape Town Spurs and the national U23 side. The striker-cum-defender made 211 league appearances for Town between 1979 and 1990.
