The Ipswich Town Supporters Trust is nearing registration with the documents confirming Trust status currently being processed. Last night the latest Working Party meeting voted for a Trust committee as well as a formal constitution.

Acting chairman of the Trust is lifetime Town fan a Felixstowe-based businessman Carl Day while Peter Morris is his vice-chair. The other members of the Trust committee are Colin Kreidewolf, Liz Edwards, Julie Rayner, Robert Chambers, Phil Ham, Amanda Bloom, Peter Clark, Alasdair Ross and Tim Edwards.

A formal launch date has yet to be set but it is likely to be in mid-July, the process of registration taking a few weeks. The 500 or so supporters who have expressed an interest being members of the Trust will receive more details nearer to then.

The Trust also agreed to its Aims and Objectives:

1. To empower and unite the supporters of Ipswich Town Football Club ("Club") by providing a proactive body with real influence for the benefit of both the club and the wider community.

2. To enable the views and interests of supporters to have a greater influence in the decisionmaking of Club through acquiring shares and voting rights in the Club or other company that controls the Club, and through having elected and accountable representation on the board of the Club.

3. To strengthen the bonds between the Club, the supporters and the community and aid communications in matters of interest.

4. To be the conscience of the board and to protect the integrity of the Club.

5. To support and encourage existing and future youth and community initiatives.

6. To encourage the Club to compete at the highest level.

Acting chair Day says of the Trust's aims: "Our aim is to be a voice for the fans. We do not just want to sound off.

"We want to constructively use the influence of the fans and be a direct body which makes a difference and is proactive.

"We have tried to embrace a variety of views for the common good."
