Town captain Matt Holland's Ireland beat Georgia 2-0 in Dublin to increase their chances of European Championships qualification. Goals from Robbie Keane and Gary Doherty won the day for Brian Kerr's side.

Holland, who played the full 90 minutes at Lansdowne Road, will be back from Irish duty tomorrow and will begin to weigh-up whether to join Portsmouth.

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp is confident Holland will move, saying recently that all but the fine detail had been settled with Holland's agent Jonathan Barnett.

Holland says he is not in a hurry to make his decision and has a family holiday booked for the weekend.

Elsewhere, former Town defender Hermann Hreidarsson scored in Iceland's 3-0 win against Lithuania.

Ireland: Given (Newcastle United), Carr (Tottenham Hotspur), Breen (West Ham United), Cunningham (Birmingham City), O'Shea (Manchester United), Carsley (Everton), Healy (Celtic) (Kinsella (Aston Villa) 86), Holland (Ipswich Town), Kilbane (Sunderland), Doherty (Tottenham Hotspur) (Lee (Rotherham) 89), Keane (Tottenham Hotspur).
