Town manager Joe Royle has called on midfielder Jermaine Wright to show the form he is capable of during 2002/03. Wright, named Town's most improved player two years ago, had a disappointing time last season and by the end was booed by some sections of the crowd.

Royle told the club site that Matt Holland's departure gives Wright, and a number of youngsters, an opportunity to win a regular place: "We are lucky in that even with Matt going, we still have a number of options in midfield.

"We have lads like Antonio Murray, Matt Bloomfield and Ian Westlake coming through from the academy, and Jim Magilton, Martijn Reuser and Tommy Miller are established first-team players.

"So is Jamma and it's about time he started to justify the fantastic ability he has.

"We know he has got that talent about him, now it's a case of seeing him show it regularly next season."

Jim Magilton is currently the fans' favourite to captain the side in place of Matt Holland, however, Royle says he is not making a decision as yet.

The Northern Irishman and Richard Naylor have both told Royle that they will be accepting their new contracts: "I've had a firm 'yes' from both Jim and Richard and I spoke to Fabian's agent the other day. I don't envisage any problems."
