West Brom Up Gaardsøe Bid
West Brom Up Gaardsøe Bid

West Brom are reported to have been in talks with Town over the weekend regarding Blues' defender Thomas Gaardsøe. Last week the Baggies made a bid for the Dane which was described as "nominal" and "derisory" by the Town management.

With the Blues still in need of transfer cash to meet their CVA obligations, it is likely that if an offer of a sensible nature were to come in from the Midlanders Town would have to accept it.

Gaardsøe, currently out for another three weeks with an ankle injury, was one of the stars of last season and his loss would be a blow for supporters just ahead of the season.

However, with no bids on the table for anyone else, cash still required and the wage bill high despite the sales of Matteo Sereni and Matt Holland, Town are not yet in a position to hold off serious offers for their players.

The initial bid was apparently at around the £400,000 mark but it is likely that an offer of around double that might be enough to take the 23-year-old to the Hawthorns.

Should Gaardsøe leave it is likely that Georges Santos may be taken on for longer than his current three-month contract. Both the Dane and the Cape Verde international play either at the centre of defence or in the middle of midfield.
