Bart-Williams Signs Wednesday, 10th Sep 2003 10:27 Town have signed Charlton's Chris Bart-Williams on a month's loan. With Tommy Miller out injured Town's central midfield options were looking minimal and the former Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest man looks likely to come straight into the starting line-up. Town boss Joe Royle watched the 29-year-old in action for the Charlton second string and told the club site: "Chris is a big, strong midfielder and the type of player we need at the moment. "We had a look at him in the Charlton reserves to make sure he was fit and he looked good. He will be joining us on a month's loan, initially." Bart-Williams, born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, is a highly experienced player having played 477 senior games, scoring 63 goals. He started his career with Leyton Orient back in 1991, moving on to Hillsborough for £275,000 only months after turning professional at Brisbane Road. He joined Nottingham Forest for £2.5 million in July 1995. Eventually left the City Ground for Charlton in December 2001, initially on loan before making the switch permanent a month later with no fee involved. Although not involved in Alan Curbishley's side this season he played 15 times last season, scoring one goal.
