Town boss Joe Royle was pleased with Drissa Diallo's performance in his comeback behind-closed-doors friendly with Norwich City at Portman Road. Diallo, back after knee surgery, was forced off at half-time due to a cut which required stitches.

Royle told the club site that the Guinean international did well during the first 45 minutes of the 4-2 defeat: "Drissa played the first-half and did everything we hoped he would.

"The cut was a disappointment, obviously. It's just above the eyebrow and needed four or five stitches but it's nothing to worry about.

"He showed no reaction to the knee problem he's had and will be in action again next week for the reserves."

Diallo will not be involved with the first team at Reading this weekend but will return to full training later this week.
