U19s Draw With Spurs

Town's U19s drew 1-1 with the Spurs senior academy side at the Playford Road Training Centre on Saturday morning. Daryl Knights scored the Town goal.

Spurs were the better team in the first half, during which there were too many needless fouls. Jerome Sobers, the new lad from Ford United, gave away a penalty and was lucky only to be shown a yellow card for the offence, Spurs scoring from the spot.

Daniel Flack got himself booked for constantly moaning at the ref and could have found himself also shown a red as he continued to get involved in niggly incidents.

The second half saw Town put on a far better display and the arrival of Knights and the young Irishman, Owen Garvan, as subs gave Town the little extra that was needed and Knights managed to get a well deserved equaliser.

Ben Patten also from Ford Utd had a fine display at centre half in the second period, and there was also a good display from the skipper Liam Manning, and Liam Craig who found himself playing at left back and not his normal centre forward position.

An interested spectator was ex-academy coach Paul Goddard.
