Police Defend Actions Saturday, 13th Mar 2004 19:13 British Transport Police have defended their officers forcing Lowestoft-based Town fans on to a train bound for Ipswich after Sunday's East Anglian derby at Carrow Road. Chief Supt Willie McCafferty said: "The Ipswich fans were kept behind after the game by police and by the time they got to the station the Lowestoft train was full of Norwich fans. "If we had let them on we would not have been able to police the train. "If there had been trouble then you would be me asking why we let fans on the train. "I fully support the actions of my staff on the day.
