Mogga Set for Cambridge?
Mogga Set for Cambridge?

Town coach Tony Mowbray is reported to be one of a number of people to have put themselves forward for the vacant manager's job at Cambridge United. Cambridge sacked John Taylor, an Ipswich Town fan, earlier this week.

Mogga has apparently thrown his name into the ring along with former U's boss Tommy Taylor, while Chester boss Mark Wright is also being touted as a potential target of the Abbey Stadium club. Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough and Weymouth manager Steve Claridge have also been mentioned in connection with the job.

Mowbray has long sought a management job of his own and applied for the vacant Hartlepool position in the summer. Town boss Joe Royle is aware of Mowbray's ambitions and has said he would not stand in his way if the former Town and Celtic captain was offered a manager's job of his own.
