Town boss Joe Royle says that less talented players than Jermaine Wright have played for England. However, Royle feels the 28-year-old ought to be scoring more goals.

Royle told the club site: "No one who has worked with Jamma has ever doubted the lad's talent.

"It's that consistency that has been missing but once he got his fitness sorted out at the start of the season he has been terrific for us.

"Make no mistake, the boy has got bags of ability. There are players with less talent that Jermaine who have gone on to play for England.

"He strikes a ball well and really should be hitting 10 goals a season for us."
