Brazil Loses Radio Job
Brazil Loses Radio Job

Former Town striker Alan Brazil has been axed from his job as a presenter on TalkSport's breakfast show. Brazil failed to turn up to work last Friday which proved the final straw for station boss Kelvin MacKenzie.

The ex-Scotland international had been presenting the programme for four years along with Mike Parry.

However, over that period TalkSport had become increasingly concerned at Brazil's lifestyle which on occasion left him unable to go on the air at 6am and led to occasional absences. He had previously received several written warnings.

Brazil, who was paid £200,000-a-year by TalkSport, has defended his conduct: "TalkSport encouraged my social life, telling me to go here and there. There were times after a big do when, yes, I wasn't in the right shape to go on the radio.

"I admit I've missed some shows during my four years at TalkSport, but I believe my appearance record over that time compares favourably with other top presenters.

"I'm gutted that it's blown up with Kelvin. I wanted to carry on and I believe I had a genuine reason for not turning up last Friday.

"In my opinion TalkSport have broken up their best partnership which was the main reason for listening to the station. I'm taking legal advice."
