Two Signings Next Week?

Town manager Joe Royle has revealed that he could sign two midfield players as soon as next week. Royle is hopeful that one of the players may come on trial before of Saturday's pre-season opener at London Road against Peterborough.

The Town boss said: "We are hopeful of bringing players in, we might even have a trialist with us tomorrow. And it's not impossible that we could have two new midfield players next week."

Royle wouldn't be drawn on any more details of the potential signings, although neither of them will be Crewe's Dave Brammer who is set for a move to Stoke.

Town have no new injuries, despite a clash of heads between Drissa Diallo and Shefki Kuqi and Royle says all is going to plan: "They're going well, we've got a lot of very fit youngsters that are pulling everybody along.

"Wherever I can the senior players will be getting half a game [at Peterborough] but some of them will have to play 90 minutes."

Royle wanted to play two teams against Barry Fry's men, however, new rules limit him to six substitutions.

Gerard Nash continues his recovery from a cruciate ligament operation and the Town manager is full of praise for the 17-year-old Irish centre-back: "He's working like a Trojan, the only trouble is dragging him away.

"If anybody in football has ever deserved to come back it's him, he's been outstanding."

Tommy Miller is training well but misses Saturday as he's still not ready for physical contact after his recent jaw operation. He will be involved in games on the Danish tour next week.

Probable squad: Davis, Price, Wilnis, Richards, De Vos, Diallo, Naylor, Santos, Collins, Barron, Mitchell, Magilton, Westlake, Murray, Couñago, Bent, Bowditch, Kuqi.
