Rivers's Contract Settled
Rivers's Contract Settled

Town trialist Mark Rivers is a free agent and available on a free transfer, his contract with Norwich City having been settled. The winger joined the Blues on Thursday afternoon in the hope of winning a deal at Portman Road.

Rivers had one year remaining of his spell at Carrow Road but the Canaries have revealed that his contract has been terminated by mutual agreement.

The former Crewe player said he was proud of his contribution while with the Canaries: "I have greatly enjoyed my time with Norwich City. I have been here since 2001, since when we have had one play-off final, one near miss and a promotion as champions, of which I am very proud.

"I would like to wish the club, the fans and the players all the very best for the season ahead".

Norwich manager Nigel Worthington says the Cheshire-born player has injury to blame for his Norwich career stalling: "After being involved at the beginning of last season, Mark found it difficult following his injury and was frustrated by his lack of first team opportunities.

"He has got to move on to find first team football and we wish him all the best of luck."

Rivers, who regularly put Town to the sword back in his Crewe days, was previously linked with a move to Portman Road back in January 2000.
