West Ham midfielder Kevin Horlock is set to sign for Town on a two-year deal today. The Northern Irish international is at the club and is expected to put pen to paper if he passes a medical.

Horlock signed a three-year contract at Upton Park last summer which is likely to be settled in a similar manner to Martijn Reuser's deal at Town.

The holding midfielder is well-known to Joe Royle, having played at Mancghester City under the Town boss.

The 31-year-old joined West Ham from Manchester City for £300,000 and played 33 games last season, scoring one goal.

Prior to that he was a linchpin of both Joe Royle and Kevin Keegan's Division One promotion squads at Manchester City, having been brought there from Swindon by Frank Clark in 1997 for £1.25 million.

Capped 32 times by the Northern Irish, Horlock started his career at West Ham but left for Swindon in 1992 without making a senior appearance.

A deadball specialist, the Plumsted-born player scores most of his goals from freekicks around the edge of the box.

In his time he has also been a penalty and corner taker. He looks likely to have been brought in as a direct replacement for Chris Bart-Williams who was released at the end of last season.
