Former Town striker Alun Armstrong is on trial at Bristol City. Armstrong's Portman Road contract was not renewed when it was up at the end of June.

The 29-year-old frontman will be with the West Country side for at least a week and will be involved in Wednesday's friendly with Kidderminster Harriers.

Robins' player-boss Brian Tinnion said of the former Stockport and Boro man: "He's a forward who is lively, and he is someone we will be looking at closely over the next week or so.

"He's out of contract and hasn't yet found a club. We've invited him for training this week and he will play in the friendly on Wednesday.

"Alun is an experienced player and we will have to see if he can help the strikers we already have at the club."
