Town are amongst a number of clubs reported to be chasing young Icelandic duo Kjartan Henry Finnbogason and Theodor Elmar Bjarnason. Reports in Iceland say that the Blues are keen for the pair to have trial periods at the Academy in the not too distant future.

Finnbogason is an 18-year-old striker who is already an Icelandic U21 international and a regular in the KR Reykjavik first team, while skilful midfielder Bjarnason, 17, plays for the same club and has also made strides towards the senior side.

Both players have previously been linked with moves to bigger clubs elsewhere with Celtic, Feyenoord, Bordeaux and Arsenal all reported to have kept an eye on the duo at one time or another.

Another Icelander, 15-year-old Runólfur Sigmundsson who is currently part of the Fylkir youth set-up, will train with the Town Academy during the last two weeks of October. He previously spent time at Playford Road in the summer.

Town have sought to increase their links in Iceland over the last couple of years with an U14 squad recently competing in the Rey Cup in Reykjavik. Former Blue and Iceland international Hermann Hreidarsson is, like TWTD, a Friend of the Academy.

In the close season yet another Icelander, Eyjolfur Hedinsson, was over on trial, the striker playing 45 minutes of the reserves friendly against Histon.
