Town boss Joe Royle is demanding an immediate return to winning ways when his side face Plymouth Argyle at Portman Road on Saturday. Royle says he will make changes to the side which lost 2-0 at Doncaster Rovers in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.

The Blues have no new injury problems and it is likely they will go back to the eleven which drew at West Ham on Saturday. That means returns for Kelvin Davis, Fabian Wilnis, Tommy Miller and Kevin Horlock, while Lewis Price, Matt Richards, Tony Dinning and Dean Bowditch will drop to the bench.

Scott Barron, who has missed out on subs' bench duty lately due to a groin injury, returned to action in the reserves against Colchester on Wednesday and came through a full 90 minutes. He is the only likely addition to the squad.

Royle says he wants the Doncaster game forgotten as soon as possible: "There will be changes - Kelvin Davis will return in goal for a start - and it will be back towards our normal side.

"But that's not to say that the performance at Doncaster was down to the fact that I brought in some new faces.

"What we need is a continuation of the league form we showed at West Ham last weekend. We need to get the Doncaster game out of our system as quickly as possible.

"I'm looking for a big response after a very disappointing result. The players were very hurt by what happened on Tuesday and I can sense they are keen to make amends.

"I want us to get back to the form we were showing to reach the top of the table and particularly in front of our own supporters at Portman Road."

Royle was impressed with the Pilgrims when he watched them in action earlier this month: "Plymouth made a great start to the season and I saw them at QPR recently. They are a very workmanlike side with a great camaraderie. They might not have any stars but they have a great team spirit and the work tremendously hard for one another."

Pilgrims' boss Bobby Williamson has a fully fit squad to pick from with Peter Gilbert and Tony Capaldi available despite recent injuries. Gilbert was the victim of a horror tackle which saw Wolves midfielder Kevin Cooper red-carded last weekend, while Capaldi has been suffering with a calf injury.

Williamson has allowed defender Hasney Aljofree to join former boss Paul Sturrock at his new club Sheffield Wednesday on loan.

The Pilgrims' manager, recommended to the club by Sturrock when he left for his ill-fated spell at Southampton, says his side are happy with their start to the season: "They are all big games, and it's an enjoyable league to be in.

"I don't think anybody is going to run away with it. Queens Park Rangers have picked up three victories on the trot and we have had three defeats and they are a point ahead of us now.

"That just shows everybody if they can string a few games together and pick up points you can certainly climb up this division."

He feels his side have been unfortunate to lose their last three games: "I'm really frustrated and gutted for the players because they have put so much effort in.

"I just hope we don't get too despondent. It's up to me as a manager to keep them focused and keep their spirits up. We aren't terribly far off it and the last two games have shown us that."

Saturday's referee is Graham Salisbury from Preston who has shown 21 yellow cards and no reds in eight games this season. Perhaps worryingly, Salisbury last took control of a Town game in October 2002 when they lost 3-0 at Grimsby. Three days later manager George Burley was sacked.
