Town stopper Kelvin Davis has been warned by keeper coach Andy Rhodes that his back problem could be with him for the rest of his life. Davis was forced off at half-time during Town's 1-1 draw with Reading after a recurrence of an injury he also suffered in pre-season.

Rhodes, who took over from Malcolm Webster in the summer, said: "Kelvin could well have the problem for life. He suffered another spasm at the weekend and he was cotton-wooled through training before last night's match.

"He is having a scan and x-rays today, and Lewis Price has been pulled out of tomorrow's reserve match [at Barnet, against Arsenal, KO 7pm]."

"Ironically, Kelvin was only saying last week that his back was feeling better than it had for a long while.

"He went down in the warm-up against AaB Aalborg in a pre-season friendly in Denmark and had to sit out the match.

"Hopefully, the injury will settle down again quickly."

Irish Academy keeper Shane Supple will take over from Price in the reserves and will probably be on the first team bench on Sunday should Davis not make it, although there is a possibility that Rhodes, 43, might be namd as a sub.
