Town keeper Kelvin Davis has received good news regarding the back injury which forced him off in the draw with Reading on Tuesday. Scans have shown that the stopper, who celebrated his 28th birthday on Wednesday, should not suffer any recurring problems due to the injury.

Davis told the club site: "Our medical staff and myself had no reason to fear there was a problem anyway, but it's nice to have that news confirmed by the specialists.

"Whether I have fully recovered from the problem in time for the Coventry game is still not sure but with two weeks off after that, the discomfort should have cleared up completely by the time we play Burnley."

Physio Dave Williams added: "He has missed only 45 minutes with the injury and that could be all he misses during his career.

"We knew he had a slight problem before the game against Reading and he jarred it in the warm up.

"It has quickly settled down and he's got a 50/50 chance of playing on Sunday.

"As for having any long-term fears over his back, that's not a problem at all. The x-rays have shown no bone or disc trouble, as we expected.

"I know there have been some comments about Kelvin possibly having a long-term problem but that's not the case.

"Footballers are prone to suffering wear and tear on their spine but he is no more likely to have a back problem in the future than any other highly-trained athlete."
