Town to Break Record Tuesday, 2nd Nov 2004 10:16 Town will break a 50-year-old record if they score against Sheffield United this evening. The Blues have scored in their last 28 league games, equalling a record set during 1953 and 1954. The current Town side last failed to score in a league game (play-off matches are not officially classed as league games) in March when they were defeated 2-0 at Stoke City. Back in 1953, Scott Duncan's side started their run with a 2-1 victory at home to Aldershot on the final day of the 1952/53 season. The run ended in January 1954 when Reading defeated the Blues 1-0 at Portman Road. However, Town went on to win the Third Division South championship for the first time, perhaps an omen for the season ahead.
