Town Draw Bolton
Town Draw Bolton

Town have drawn old enemies Bolton Wanderers at home in round three of the FA Cup. The ties will be played on the weekend of Saturday 8th January.

The Blues and Wanderers last met in the Premiership in 2001/02 with the Lancastrians twice running out winners.

But it was the previous meeting between the two teams which sticks most in the memory, the Blues winning a play-off second leg at Portman Road 5-3, with Jim Magilton scoring a hat-trick.

Wanderers continue to be angry about the result and particularly the refereeing of Barry Knight, who awarded Town three penalties and sent off two Bolton players, although individually all the decisions appeared quite justified.

Sam Allardyce's club succeeded in having Knight switched from one of their games only a few weeks ago.

The teams last met in cup competition in 1994/95 when then Division One Bolton beat Premiership Town 3-0 at Portman Road and 1-0 at former home Burnden Park in the League Cup.
