Town Deny Red Herring
Town Deny Red Herring

Town have denied a report claiming that Powergen bosses have asked the club to switch to wearing red shirts. The story claimed that E.On, owners of Powergen, have told the club to move to wearing their corporate colour if they want their sponsorship to continue beyond this season.

According to the December issue of Electrical Review ("by far the longest established journal serving the UK electrical engineering industry"), the power company have laid down the law: "Even as the club is challenging to return to the Premiership, the corporate image boys at E.On are presenting it with an ultimatum. Start adopting our corporate colour of red or lose our sponsorship."

TWTD put the shocking allegation to the club who thankfully told us there was no truth in the story whatsoever.

Town's sponsorship with Powergen ends this summer, a year's extension having been negotiated when the previous deal was up last season.
