TWTD has been looking into the French career of new Town trialist Juninho. The 25-year-old Brazilian wing-back or midfielder is on a four-day trial with the Blues this week and may be one of a number of trialists involved in Wednesday's home reserve game against Tottenham Hotspur (KO 7pm).

Juninho, real name Domingo Gonçalves Gomes Junior, played wing-back with Racing Club de France 92 (formerly known as Racing Club de Paris) during the 2003/04 season under the name 'Junior'.

Jean-Luc from Allez Racing! told TWTD that the Brazilian found his way to RCF92 via an arrangement with a bigger side: "Junior was interesting French Premier League club Nantes, who decided to try him out at our club because there was a partnership between the two clubs.

"He seemed to be a great player during the pre-season matches in 2003. Our club was in CFA1 last season, which is the fourth level in France (non-professional), and I thought he was too strong for this league and we were lucky to have the partnership with Nantes.

"However, because of administrative problems, he couldn't play official games before December. When he did start to play, he was unexpectedly not better than the others, perhaps because of the several months without playing.

"In the end, he played only nine matches during the rest of the season and made very little contribution in the success of the team, which was promoted to the National division (third level)."

Juninho/Junior is one of a number of trialists set to try their luck at Portman Road in the weeks to come. Eric Graves, an 18-year-old midfielder or striker from Stoke City, and Irish U21 striker Daryl Murphy from Waterford United are both currently with the Blues.
