Another Award for McGreal

John McGreal, who left the Blues on a Bosman last summer, has won Burnley's official Player of the Year award for 2004/05. The central defender had already won seven other man of the season prizes awarded by various Clarets' supporters groups.

McGreal, 32, has been the linchpin of Burnley's defence this season which has achieved 21 clean sheets in 53 matches, the second best defensive record in the Football League.

The former Tranmere man left Town in June after being offered a three-year deal at Burnley, while the Blues would only commit to two years, McGreal having missed significant periods of the previous two seasons through injury.
