Skipper Jim Magilton is weighing up Town's offer of another year at Portman Road. The club captain met with manager Joe Royle earlier today to discuss the new deal.

Magilton is keen to become a coach when he stops playing and also plans to move back to the North-West, his wife's home area, when he leaves the Blues.

The former Northern Irish international told the club site that he had a good chat with Royle: "I had a real heart to heart with the gaffer and he was fantastic to me.

"I have an enormous amount of respect for him and it was a real honour when he turned around and told me he wanted me here for another year. That meant a lot to me.

"I love this club, everyone knows that. I have spent the best years of my career here and leading the team out as skipper has been a real privilege, but I also have a number of other considerations to take into account, especially at my age.

"I've got to sit down and talk to the people who are close to me and run everything through my mind.

"I'm going away for while and that will give me a chance to do some serious thinking about what lies ahead for me.

"I'm still getting over the disappointment of losing out on the play-offs, but I know I have a big decision to make about next season and need time to make it."
