Boss Joe Royle says that two clubs have shown an interest in striker Darren Bent. The England U21 international signalled his intention to leave the club for the Premiership earlier this week.

The interested clubs are likely to be Sunderland and Charlton, although Royle denies that anyone has so far made a firm offer: "We have had two clubs showing an interest in Darren. There have been no bids as yet but I feel they may be forthcoming in the near future."

The Town manager is keen to keep out-of-contract midfielder Tommy Miller, but says the 26-year-old is set for talks with Sunderland: "I have spoken to Tommy and made him an offer, but he wants to speak to Sunderland and I fully understand that.

"If, after speaking to them, he decides his future lies there I will reluctantly wish him well.

"Equally, however, I am still hoping that the promise of first team football, which he has here, and a two-year contract, will make him think
twice."

Leeds are also reported to have shown interest in Miller, but Sunderland appear to be the favourites to sign the former Hartlepool player.
