Town After Thomas

Town are one of a number of Championship clubs chasing out-of-contract Stoke City defender Wayne Thomas. The Blues, Derby County, Norwich and Burnley are all after the 26-year-old who has failed to come to an agreement over a new deal with the Potters and is available on a Bosman.

Thomas's agent Justin Page says he and his client have had a number of enquiries and anticipate even more: "Now that the season is over we will spend time weighing up the options for Wayne and I would expect that the interest we are already aware of from other clubs will also be confirmed."

Born in Gloucester, Thomas started his career at Torquay where he made 119 appearances between 1995 and 2000, scoring seven goals. He joined Stoke for £200,000 ahead of the 2000/01 season and has played 217 matches for the Midlanders.

His eight Stoke goals include two against Town at the Britannia Stadium last September and one in the FA Cup tie with Arsenal, his only strikes of 2004/05.
