Swindon striker Sam Parkin says he is meeting Town manager Joe Royle today to discuss his proposed move to Portman Road. Town and Watford, who are both understood to have made bids of £500,000, have been given permission to speak to the much-fancied 24-year-old frontman.

Parkin said: “As far as I know I am speaking to Ipswich Town today.

“I am obviously keen to hear what the interested parties have to say. I'm sure the clubs who have made offers will have questions of me as well.

“I do have ambitions in the game and I want to go to a club that is going to challenge in the Championship. I want to be part of a progressive club, a club on the up.

“You want to look at the set-up and find out what other players the manager is trying to bring in. There is a lot of thinking to do.”

The former Chelsea trainee is understood to have met with Watford over the weekend and at the moment it appears to be a straight fight between the Blues and the Hornets for his signature.

Norwich City have also made a bid for the frontman, however it doesn't match Swindon's valuation of their prize asset.

Parkin himself may not be keen on moving to Carrow Road where he would almost certainly be viewed as cover for Dean Ashton. Brighton and Crewe also showed an interest but have been priced out of the running.

The Roehampton-born frontman has international ambitions having recently made his debut for the Scotland Future side in a 2-1 defeat to a similar Austria team.

Parkin, who qualifies for Scotland via his mother, is keen to make progress into the full Scotland squad.
