Town have revealed that they were approached about a pre-season friendly by the Iranian national side. However, the two parties couldn't fix a date for the proposed game.

Club secretary Sally Webb told the club site: "We were approached by the Iranian national team to play a game here.

"They are playing in Europe and were hoping to fix up a friendly but unfortunately we couldn't accommodate them because the timing wasn't right for us."

Town's pre-season programme is virtually complete, although the two games in Hungary, against Újpest and Diósgyõri, and the home match with Atlético Madrid are yet to be confirmed.
