Trashing Blades!
Trashing Blades!

Town must go into tomorrow's game at Sheffield United with the greatest confidence possible. First, the UltraBlues are off to their best start since 1936, when the newly professional Southern League club won their first six games of the season. Two years later Town started with five wins in a row, the current League record. With Sheffield United bottom and Town currently top added to the fact that the Blades haven't beaten Town in a League game since January 1993 (3-0 at Bramall Lane, Brian Deane hat-trick, remember it all too well), all the omens point to a Town victory, but we all know how much notice to take of omens don't we?

Town's major worry for tomorrow is Jermaine Wright who is still rated as 50/50 after spraining his ankle during Tuesday's game with Brentford. He will have a fitness test tomorrow morning. If he fails this it is likely that Mick Stockwell will take his place in the midfield as Jim Magilton is not considered fit enough yet after missing pre-season. Fabian Wilnis will continue as right wing-back. Mark Venus has recovered from the dead-leg which kept him out of Tuesday's game and Wayne Brown, who had an excellent game, drops to the bench. Richard Naylor looks likely to return up front and James Scowcroft will move back to the midfield. Jamie Clapham missed training yesterday, but is not thought to be a doubt for Bramall Lane.

Town Academy player, Fraser Duncan has been selected for the Scottish U16 squad which is playing matches in Malta from the September 2nd - 8th.

The Club Shop in Tower Ramparts is to move to a larger site in the Buttermarket. The shop, which apparently brings in 20% of the club's retail revenue, will open on September 4th on a temporary site until the permanent shop is completed.
