Town are targeting out of favour Leeds striker Ian Moore. The Blues want to take Moore, the son of Oldham boss Ronnie, on a season-long loan.

The 29-year-old joined Leeds from Burnley for £50,000 in March but has made only six appearances for the Elland Road club, none this season.

Moore started his career at Tranmere in 1994, playing 66 games and scoring 13 goals. He moved on to Bradford on loan in 1996, making six appearances in a month-long spell before joining Nottingham Forest for £1 million in March 1997.

The striker made only four starts in his 18 months at the City Ground, scoring once and spending a loan spell at West Ham during which he made one appearance from the bench.

Stockport paid £800,000 for the Birkenhead-born striker in August 1998, Moore scoring 23 goals in 104 games before moving on to Burnley for £1 million in November 2000.

Moore's time at Turf Moor brought him 50 goals in 215 matches and led to his move to Leeds on deadline day with his contract with the Clarets up at the end of the season.

Town boss Joe Royle said last week that he is keen to add a loan striker to his squad and narrowly failed to sign a player on the final day of the transfer window. Football League rules allow clubs to sign players on loan outside the transfer window.
