Town have confirmed that Anna Hughes and Andrew Goulborn are to join the club's board of directors. TWTD reported last week that finance director Hughes and sales and marketing director Goulborn were set to become members of the board.

Chairman David Sheepshanks explained to the club site why it was felt necessary to add to the numbers on the board: "We have an increasingly sophisticated and diverse organisation and these appointments are appropriate both from a business management and responsibility perspective.

"The composition of the board in terms of executive and non-executive directors has a better balance and accurately reflects the way we operate. I am very pleased to welcome Anna and Andrew to the board."

Hughes said: "I am very pleased to be asked to join the board of directors. I see my role as being about giving the club financial direction, about controlling our finances and about providing management information to all parts of the business about their performance, whether that is to the kit man or to the corporate sales team.

"With regard to my role on the board, it is good practice that all organisations represent the finance function at board level because finance is pivotal to control, decision-making and stability."

Goulborn said: "I am delighted and honoured to be joining the board and look forward to playing my part in getting the club back to the Premiership.

"This move recognises the importance of maximising commercial revenues in order to provide the strongest possible financial platform for the club."

Hughes joined the club in January after working as an independent consultant to the British Museum and as a chartered accountant with KPMG.

Goulborn, a lifelong Town supporter, began his employment at Portman Road in July 2004 having previously worked for Rise Communications, a company he helped found in 2003.

Prior to that, like Derek Bowden, he was an executive at Saatchi and Saatchi, and also had time with MediaCom and BMP.
