French midfielder Jimmy Juan is targeting a first league start after impressing as a sub in the 2-1 win against Crewe at the weekend. The loanee from Monaco has made seven appearances as a sub, while his only start came in the Carling Cup defeat to Yeovil.

Juan told the club site: "It's my ambition to win a regular place in the first team here.

"I could have stayed in France during the summer but having spent time here last season I was determined to come back here and get into the team.

"I'm working hard now to make the most of my opportunity and am learning about the English game all the time.

"The football here is different to how we play in France and I'm having to pick up on other skills. Tackling and the physical side are two areas where I feel I have improved."

Juan first came to Portman Road on trial in January and joined on loan for the rest of the season. Injuries prevented him from making a senior appearance during that time but the 22-year-old signed a season-long loan in the summer.
