Two Offers Turned Away
Two Offers Turned Away

Town have turned away firm interest from one player and a definite offer for another TWTD has learned. Yesterday's rumours about a Chelsea move for Matt Holland have been confirmed with an enquiry made by Claudio Ranieri and both club and player are saying that he's definitely staying at Town.

Meanwhile it is emerging that David Platt's Nottingham Forest have had a £2.5 million offer for David Johnson turned down by the Blues. Reports last night eminating from Nottingham said that Platt had confirmed his interest in the striker, but the actual bid is a new development.

It seems unlikely that Town would sell Johnson with such an important month in both League and cups coming up. Yesterday there was also speculation that Johnson may go on loan to Burnley.

As for Holland, The Town skipper said: "I'm very happy at Ipswich. I want to play European football and I believe I have a very good chance of doing that with Ipswich. We are fourth in the Premier League and we are also in the Worthington Cup semi-final which is another route into Europe."

Holland added that although he was flattered at the Chelsea interest he thought that currently there was a better chance of him playing European football with Town rather than the Londoners.

George Burley gave the club's point of view: "Matt is not for sale." Something Town fans will be very glad to hear.
