Sheepy Confirms Bid Turned Down
Sheepy Confirms Bid Turned Down
Thursday, 4th Jan 2001 12:55

Town chairman David Sheepshanks has confirmed that Town have turned downa bid of £2.5 million for David Johnson. Town's top man said: "We have had an approach from Nottingham Forest regarding David Johnson, but it falls short of our valuation and therefore nothing is happening. We are not looking to sell any of our players."

David Platt meanwhile told local radio in Nottingham: "I have made an initial inquiry and hope to be speaking to Ipswich manager George Burley before the week is out."

We suspect that we won't have heard the last of this. The next few days could see others join the chase for Johnno and his quoted price rise as a result. The Town chairman's resolve could be tested should someone come in with an offer that he sees as more than a good price for the striker.
