Williams Signs Deal Wednesday, 4th Jan 2006 11:56 On-loan midfielder Gavin Williams has completed his £300,000 move from West Ham. The fee was agreed last week with the Welsh international subsequently thrashing out a contract which will keep him at Portman Road until 2009. TWTD first reported Town interest in Williams back in August, the 25-year-old eventually joining the Blues on loan in November. Boss Joe Royle always hoped the move would become a permanent switch and Town's financial restructuring and the income from the FA Cup tie with Portsmouth provided the cash to seal the deal. Williams, who has two full Wales caps, has made nine Town appearances, scoring on his debut at Coventry. The former Hereford United man joined the Hammers from Yeovil Town in December 2004 for £250,000. League One side Swansea were also keen to sign Williams on a permanent basis, having had a loan bid turned down prior to the midfielder's move to Portman Road in November.
