Bury Get Percentage of Johnson Fee Friday, 12th Jan 2001 14:48 It is emerging that David Johnson's former club Bury will get 20% of Town's profit on the sale of the player. It seems that the deal between Town and Bury in 1997 included a clause which could see the Shakers get around £380,000. David Johnson joined Town in a deal worth £800,000 plus the £300,000 rated Chris Swailes. However, the figure received by the Gigg Lane club is not as simple as a straight percentage. Terry Robinson, the chairman of the Lancashire side, said earlier this week: It all depends on the size of fee and how the money is paid. If for example, the money is paid over a number of years and the deposit isn't greater than what Ipswich bought him for, then we don't get anything straight away."
