Belgian on Trial Thursday, 16th Mar 2006 19:52 Democratic Republic of Congo-born midfielder or defender Fabrice Lokembo Lokaso will train with the Blues next week. Born in Kinshasa, Lokembo moved to Belgium as a three-year-old and subsequently qualified for Belgian nationality. There, the 23-year-old started his career with Marchienne and Royal Charleroi SC, playing under the name Lokembo, before moving on to Israeli football and helping second division Maccabi Herzliya to a place in the 2005 Israeli Cup final. Last summer he joined Maccabi Petach Tikva in Israel's top division and played for them in the UEFA Cup where they performed impressively and qualified for the group stages after defeating Partizan Belgrade. Lokembo, 6ft tall, has played most of his career in midfield but can also operate at left-back and centre-half. He is out of contract having left Maccabi, apparently due to financial problems at the club.
