Former Norwich City coach Steve Foley is in talks with Town and looks set to be the first addition to Jim Magilton's backroom staff. Foley, a former Colchester United player, had his Canaries contract settled last month as they sought to make changes after their poor season.

Foley, 52, spent 10 years at Carrow Road, having been appointed by Mike Walker, who he had played alongside at Layer Road. Foley's name had been mentioned a number of times on the TWTD Message Board since Magilton's backroom plans were made public on Monday.

Magilton is keen to add to what he refers to as his "cabinet" and is looking to fill a coaching role - which has been referred to as a director of football - and also to name a new chief scout. Assistant manager Willie Donachie has left the club along with previous chief scout Colin Suggett.

The Northern Irishman has ruled out moves for old boys Jermaine Wright, Tommy Miller and Jamie Clapham: "Jamma is a player who did very well here and I'm a big fan of his, but he's out of our price range.

"It's the same with Tommy Miller and Jamie Clapham, who have been mentioned. Finances will always be the key factor in any deals we try to do. But we're not looking about an old boys reunion for next season. Just because a player used to be at Ipswich with me doesn't automatically mean he'll be coming back here."
