Jim Magilton's management career will start on Saturday, August 5th at Portman Road when the Blues take on Crystal Palace. Town have a tricky start to their 2006/07 campaign with away matches against Wolves and Leicester and a home match with Hull next on the agenda.

The games most fans will look for first, the East Anglian derbies with Norwich City, have been set for Saturday, November 18th at home and Saturday, April 21st on enemy territory, but both are likely to move to the following day with lunchtime kick-offs on police advice.

Town's games with newly-promoted Colchester United are pencilled in for Saturday, September 30th at Layer Road and January 20th at Portman Road but like the Norwich matches are likely to move to Sundays.

Essex's other Championship club, Southend United, are at Portman Road on Saturday, March 10th, the Blues having travelled to Roots Hall on Saturday, October 21st.

The Christmas period sees the Blues play Stoke City at home on Saturday, December 23rd, Coventry away on Boxing Day, West Brom away on Saturday, December 30th and Birmingham City at home on New Year's Day.

Town's run-in looks as tough as their start to the season with a Saturday, April 7th home game with Barnsley followed by a trip to Sheffield Wednesday two days later on Easter Monday. Derby at home is followed by the second Norwich derby of the season a week later with Leeds away on Saturday, April 28th and finally Cardiff at home on Saturday May 6th.

The usual nightmare midweek away trips include a trip to Plymouth on Tuesday, October 31st and a visit to Deepdale, Preston on Tuesday, March 13th.
