Former Celtic midfielder Colin Healy has joined the Blues on trial. News of Town's interest in the 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international first broke last week.

Healy left Livingston at the end of the season after a two-month spell with the relegated SPL side. Previously the midfielder spent three years with Sunderland.

Prior to that the 5ft 11in tall midfield player had been with Celtic, having moved from Irish club Ballincolligh in 1998, spending three months on loan at Coventry in 2002.

Injuries - including two broken legs in his time at Sunderland - have restricted Healy to just 66 career starts and 28 sub appearances, with his goals tally currently at seven.

Healy, who is reportedly also interesting Leicester and Stoke, has been capped 12 times at full level by the Republic of Ireland, scoring one goal.

It is likely Town will give Healy a run-out in the first pre-season friendly at Boston United on July 8th.

Town were previously strongly linked with Healy back in April 2001.
