Iceland international Indridi Sigurdsson has joined the Blues on trial and will be going on the pre-season tour of Holland and Belgium. The low countries are familiar turf for the 24-year-old left-back or central defender who has been playing for Belgian side KRC Genk.

Capped 25 times at full level, scoring one goal, Sigurdsson began his career with KR Reykjavik in his home country before moving to Norway with Lillestrom SK in 2000. After 57 league appearances he joined KRC in 2003.

Boss Jim Magilton told the club site that Sigurdsson was recommended by a former Town star: "Hermann Hreidarsson has played with him for Iceland and spoke highly of him.

"The lad's coming on tour with us and we'll have a look at him over the next week."

Frenchman Alexis Bertin will also be on the tour, having impressed in the Boston and Galway games.
