Amir Karic's Slovenians have qualified for next summer's World Cup in South Korea and Japan. Karic was missing as Slovenia drew 1-1 in Bucharest to go through 3-2 on aggregate. The Town player was substituted late in the first half of the first leg.

Former Town winger Sean Friars scored for Carlisle last night in a friendly against Irish side Shelbourne. Friars left Town at the end of last season and played a few friendlies for a number of Northern Irish sides before joining Newry Town.

Two more of Town's reserve games have changed date. The Southampton game scheduled for November 21st has moved to 24th April while the Derby game scheduled for November 26th is now to be played on May 1st. Both will be 7pm kick-offs.

John Wark in his latest column says that Town must win on Sunday, with us being better than our counterparts: "You look at the sides man for man and you have to say that we are a better side than they are, but Town aren't doing it at the moment. I don't think Town should worry too much about Bolton's line-up when looking at how they are going to play themselves."

West Ham have come in with a firm enquiry regarding Jamie Clapham. The left-sided defender or midfielder has been rumoured to be on his way for a while and now that Town have completed the signing of Ulrich Le Pen the writing seems to be on the wall.

Town striker Pablo Counago was sent off in the Spanish U21s game wht Portugal last night. The ex-Celta Vigo man was given a straight red in the 87th minute as the game boiled over.

Plymouth are emerging as the latest club to take their blueprint from Town and David Sheepshanks' five-year plan. The south-west club are developing a new stadium and are seeking to become the 'big club' of Devon and Cornwall.

Town's new signing Ulrich Le Pen will not be eligible to play in either leg of the UEFA Cup tie with Inter. The Frenchman would, however, be available for selection should Town progress any further in the competition.

Town hope to gain more tickets for the Inter Milan away leg after the initial allocation of 3,000 and now an extra 2,500 sold out. Club secretary David Rose is currently on a fact-finding mission to Milan and we will learn if there are to be any more tickets when he returns.
