Town have had only Wright and Northern Ireland U21 international Sean Friars called up internationals that weekend with very little likelihood of anyone else getting a call up; Jim Magilton is not in the Northern Ireland squad and Matt Holland is only on standby for Ireland.
Wright Off? Thu 26th Aug 1999 12:24
It is being reported this morning that Richard Wright is set to be a £4 million target of Manchester United. United currently have Mark Bosnich out injured with his deputy Raimond Van Der Gouw only just making last night's game with Coventry. Town are reported to have offered £650,000 for 27-year-old Barnet 'keeper Lee Harrison as a replacement for Wright. Harrison's agent Howard Green is quoted as saying: "Ipswich are very keen on completing a deal for Lee, because the indications are that Wright could be on the move within the next two weeks."

Town overcame plucky Brentford 2-0 in last night's Worthington Cup First Round Second leg, winning the whole tie 4-0 on aggregate. In an atmosphere much like a reserve game Town put in an understated performance scoring through James Scowcroft and Jamie Clapham.
