Town's U18s did their bit towards making it a superb weekend from a footballing and cricketing perspective as they defeated Liverpool 3-2 at the Merseysiders' Kirkby Academy on Saturday morning. The Blues dominated the first half and were two-up at the break but the home side hit back in the second period. |

Former Blue Darren Bent has been included in the England squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Wales and Northern Ireland next week. Should the striker play in either game, Town will receive further cash on top of the initial £2.5 million fee agreed with Charlton when the 21-year-old moved to the Valley in June. |

Boss Joe Royle has confirmed the club will be appealing against Richard Naylor's red card at Millwall. The Town manager says he was confident his side would beat the Lions even after referee Mark Halsey had given Naylor his marching orders for denying Barry Hayles an obvious goalscoring opportunity. |

Ten-man Town racked up their first away win of the season as they defeated Millwall 2-1 at the Den. Darren Currie put the Blues ahead in the first half but Ben May hit back for the home side prior to Richard Naylor's sending off, but Sam Parkin headed the winner with 10 minutes remaining. |
